Cette année, au lieu de participer au marché de Noël à Luxembourg, SULTRY (https://www.sultry.lu/) a réalisé un clip vidéo de « Santa Baby ». Vous pourrez l’apprécier en dégustant un Glühwein dans votre propre « chez vous » en toute sécurité.
Dans la mesure où la moitié des membres du groupe sont enseignants, ils vivent au jour le jour le stress et les défis auxquels il leur faut faire face aujourd’hui dans leur métier. Par cette vidéo, le groupe souhaite d’une part exprimer son appréciation de leur travail, et d’autre part espère apporter un peu de joie et un sourire à tous les enseignants du Luxembourg… et au-delà.
Ce « Santa Baby » est dédié à tous les enseignants qui font face aux défis de l’éducation en ces temps de pandémie.

Le générique de fin inclus un bêtisier qui montre aussi le côté ludique, drôle, de réaliser une telle vidéo chez soi.
Réaliser une vidéo en respectant les mesures sanitaires dues à la Covid-19.
Lorsque les mesures de confinement du printemps ont été assouplies, le groupe a repris les répétitions, une fois par semaine, en extérieur sur le parking de la Coque, et ce, quelques soient les conditions météo. Cela a continué tout l’été, jusqu’à l’automne, chantant entre autres titres, ce Santa Baby à la surprise des passants (chant de Noël en août ?).
Depuis le mois d’Octobre, Sultry a pu répéter dans une grande salle au Forum, où les règles de distanciations sociales et port du masque ont été appliquées de manière à protéger les chanteuses et chanteurs.
Cette vidéo s’est préparée en octobre et novembre 2020, toujours dans le strict respect des règles sanitaires malgré leur constant changement.
Vous noterez qu’il y beaucoup de prises séparées, et qu’aucune séquence ne montre tous les chanteurs ensembles, même si on en a l’impression.
Tout a commencé en Octobre avec la prise de son. A cette période, les groupes jusqu’à 10 personnes étaient autorisés. Une amie a mis à disposition une grande salle pour l’enregistrement des voix. Ce qui a permis aux membres de garder une distance entre eux de 3 à 5 mètres.
Bien que la chanson ne fasse que 3.30 minutes, cela a représenté de l’ordre de 8 heures de travail d’enregistrement.
Une fois l’enregistrement finalisé, le groupe s’est mis au travail pour la vidéo, chantant en playback sur l’audio réalisé.
Un total de 6 prises vidéo, avec au maximum 2 personnes face caméra simultanément (ajoutons quelques scènes avec le chien). Port du masques et distance physique pendant le tournage pour toute l’équipe. Seuls les chanteurs enlevaient le masque avant la prise de vue.
Nouveaux défis pour les membres du groupe :
Précédemment, l’expérience du groupe se constituait essentiellement de concerts « live ». En l’occurrence pour la première fois, il fallait ajouter du « jeu d’acteur ». C’est là qu’est intervenu, le renfort très apprécié de Felly Kingston, jeune metteuse en scène de théâtre à Luxembourg.
Sultry, un ensemble vocal moderne A Cappella :
Sultry est un dynamique ensemble vocal a cappella, créé en 2017 et basé à Luxembourg.
Il se compose de chanteuses et chanteurs venant de différents pays et horizons culturels.
Tous passionnés par le chant, ils offrent une variété de musiques allant du Jazz au Gospel, en passant par la Pop et le Rock. Seules les voix sont utilisées pour créer une atmosphère sentimentale, exubérante et parfois comique. Ces voix allant de basses à sopranos remettent au gout du jour la « casual » élégance de Frank Sinatra, d’Ella Fitzgerald et les mélodies formidables de Stevie Wonder, alliant l’énergie du Rock, ainsi que des clins d’œil aux bandes originales de films Disney. La variété du répertoire ravira tous les gouts musicaux.
Le groupe se produit plusieurs fois par an et au Marché de Noël et la Fête de la Musique de Luxembourg.
Au cours du Printemps 2020, Sultry a réalisé une vidéo en confinement dédicacée aux personnels des Hôpitaux Robert Schuman pour les remercier de leur engagement total en ces temps de Covid-19 et leur apporter un moment de bonheur et un sourire en période de quarantaine et de confinement.

Press release: Premiere of a new Christmas video by Sultry, an A Capella jazz group from Luxembourg (remote Christmas market experience)
This year, instead of participating in the Luxembourg Christmas market, Sultry (https://www.sultry.lu/) has prepared a music video of "Santa Baby". You can enjoy it while sipping some Glühwein from the safety of your own home.
As half of the group members are teachers, they appreciate how stressful and challenging teaching is at present. With the video the group would like to not only appreciate their work, but also to bring some joy and fun to teachers in Luxembourg and beyond.
The "Santa Baby" video is dedicated to all the teachers overcoming the challenges of education in these pandemic times.

Preparing the video in line with Covid-19 sanitary requirements
When the spring lockdown measures were loosened, the group restarted their rehearsals meeting one evening per week outside at the Coque park, rehearsing no matter the weather conditions. This continued during the summer and into the autumn and included singing this Christmas song to the surprised passers-by (Santa Baby in August?). From October the group was allowed to rehearse in a room in the Forum, where the requirements for social distancing and masks we adhered to to keep the singers safe.
The video was prepared in October and November 2020, sticking strictly to the constantly changing sanitary measures in place. You will notice that there are many separate takes, and there is no shot with all the members at the same time. Even if it may look like that in the video at some moments.
First, the group did the voice recording. This was back in October, when meetings of up to 10 people were still allowed. A friend of the group made available a large room for the audio recording session. This allowed proper distancing of the members (3-5 meters) during the recording. Despite the song being only 3 and a half minutes, it took almost 8 hours to record!
After the audio recording was finalised, the group went on to prepare the video, singing along to the recording. There were 6 shoots in total, with a maximum of 2 people in front of the camera at the same time (and in some scenes also the dog). All crew members were wearing masks and social distancing. Only the performers took off their masks just before recording.
New challenges for the group members
The previous experiences of the group included live concerts, but this was the first time where some acting was also required in addition. This is where the support of Felly Kingston, a young theatre director from Luxembourg, was very much appreciated.
Sultry, a modern A Capella group from Luxembourg
Sultry is a dynamic a cappella jazz group. Founded in 2017 and based in Luxembourg, the group is composed of singers from various countries and cultures who are all passionate about singing a variety of jazz, pop, rock and gospel tunes. Sultry use their voices to create an intense atmosphere ranging from sentimental and exuberant to comical. Bringing back the cool elegance of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, the melodiousness of Stevie Wonder, the energy of rock and the fun of Disney movies, Sultry's versatility has something to fit any musical taste.
The group performs several times a year, including at the Luxembourg Christmas market and Fete de la Musique.
In Spring 2020, the group prepared a remote video dedicated to the staff of Hôpitaux Robert Schuman in order to thank them for their hard work in the times of Covid-19 and bringing some joy to the life of everyone in the times of quarantine and self-isolation. Pressemitteilung: Neues Weihnachts-Video von Sultry, der A-Capella-Jazzgrupjampe aus Luxemburg (ein virtuelles Weihnachtsmarkt-Erlebnis)
Weil in diesem Jahr die Teilnahme am Weihnachtsmarkt in Luxemburg nicht möglich ist, hat Sultry (https://www.sultry.lu/) ein Musikvideo des Weihnachts-Klassikers "Santa Baby" aufgenommen. Alle können dieses Video sicher und komfortabel von zu Hause aus anschauen. Warum nicht gleich mit einem Becher Glühwein?
Einige der Gruppenmitglieder sind Lehrer und wissen daher, wie anstrengend der Lehrerberuf während dieser besonderen Zeit ist. Mit dem Video will die Gruppe allen Lehrern in Luxemburg und anderswo für ihre Arbeit danken und ein wenig Freude und Vergnügen bringen.
Das "Santa Baby"-Video ist allen Lehrern gewidmet, die trotz der Herausforderungen zu Zeiten der Pandemie täglich ihre wertvolle Arbeit leisten.

Wie man ein Musikvideo unter Einhaltung der Covid-19-Schutzmaßnahmen erstellt
Als die seit März verhängte Ausgangssperre im Frühsommer gelockert wurde, traf sich die Gruppe zu wöchentlichen Proben im Freien. Im Park vor der Coque-Sporthalle in Luxemburg-Kirchberg probten die Sänger bei jeder Wetterlage. Die Proben im Freien waren bis zum Herbst möglich, und manchmal überraschte das Repertoire die vorbeikommenden Spaziergänger (Weihnachtslieder im August?). Ab Oktober probte die Gruppe dann in einem größeren Raum des Forum in Luxemburg-Hollerich, wo die Sänger mit genügend Abstand und Masken auch sicher in einem Innenraum proben konnten.
Das Video entstand im Oktober und November 2020. Dabei hielt die Gruppe zu jeder Zeit die jeweils zu diesem Zeitpunkt geltenden Schutzmaßnahmen ein. Die Gruppe machte eine Vielzahl separater Aufnahmen, die später zusammengeschnitten wurden, damit es so aussieht, als wären die Sänger beisammen.
Als erstes nahm die Gruppe im Oktober den Ton auf. Zu dieser Zeit waren Treffen von bis zu 10 Personen noch erlaubt. Freunde der Gruppe stellten einen großen Raum für die Aufnahme zur Verfügung. Hier nahmen die Sänger ihre das Lied unter Einhaltung eines Sicherheitsabstands von 3-5 Metern auf. Obwohl das Lied nur dreieinhalb Minuten lang ist, dauerten die Aufnahmen fast 8 Stunden!
Als das Audio fertig gemixt und produziert war, nahm die Gruppe das Video auf. Hierbei singen die Sänger zur Aufnahme. Es gab insgesamt sechs Drehtage mit maximal zwei Personen vor der Kamera (manchmal plus Hund). Alle Personen hinter der Kamera trugen Maske und hielten Sicherheitsabstand. Nur die Sänger legten ihre Masken jeweils ein paar Sekunden vor dem Dreh ab.
Neue Herausforderungen für die Sänger
Die Mitglieder von Sultry sind erfahren und haben schon häufig als Sänger auf der Bühne gestanden. Für dieses Video aber mussten sie zum ersten Mal auch schauspielern. Hierfür half Felly Kingston, eine junge Theaterregisseurin aus Luxemburg, der Gruppe mit hilfreichen Ideen und Anregungen.

Sultry ist eine dynamische A-Capella-Gruppe und wurde 2017 in Luxemburg gegründet. Die Gruppe besteht aus Sängern verschiedener Nationalitäten und Kulturen, alle vereint in ihrer Begeisterung für Vokaldarbietungen von Jazz, Pop, Rock, Gospel und allem dazwischen. Wie es sich für eine A-Cappella-Gruppe gehört, nutzen die Mitglieder von Sultry ausschließlich ihre Stimmen, um die intensive Atmosphäre ihrer Stücke – von sentimental über rhythmisch bis humoristisch – zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Mit der Eleganz von Frank Sinatra und Ella Fitzgerald, dem Melodienreichtum von Stevie Wonder, der Energie von Rock-Musik und der Komik der Disney-Filme birgt das Sultry-Programm etwas für jeden Musikgeschmack.
Die Gruppe tritt mehrmals im Jahr auf, z. B. auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt in Luxemburg und bei der "Fête de la musique".
Im Frühling 2020 veröffentlichte die Gruppe ihr erstes Heimvideo. Dieses Video war den Mitarbeitern den Robert Schuman-Krankenäusern in Luxemburg gewidmet, um ihnen damit für ihre harte Arbeit zu Zeiten des Coronavirus zu danken und allen Menschen in Quarantäne oder Selbstisolation etwas Freude zu bringen.
